8-day Water and Dry Fast Combo

As I'm coming to the end of my 8-day journey I wanted to recap some of my experiences with you. I found the water and dry fast combo much more manageable and comfortable to do. I did not really have an off day, which is quite common during a longer fast. My sleep was not very good, which can happen during fasting but I was never tired during the next day. I woke up refreshed even at 5 am. I did feel weak or light headed a few times but sucking on pink salt crystals fixed that problem very quickly, like always. I never forced the water, I just drank when I was thirsty so I probably drank less water than during previous fasts. The weight loss started off very strong. Almost 4 kilos during the first 4 days but then it stopped and even crept up a little. I found that a bit frustrating but I don't really have that much weight to lose so I'm trusting that my body knows what it's doing. I did have my period during the fast so that might also contribute to this. The ble

Dry Fasting

I haven't heard much about dry fasting , which is fasting without drinking anything at all. Some people actually do dry fasts where they don't bathe, wash dishes, brush their teeth or have any kind of contact with water. That just sounded way too harsh for me but I was willing to give the soft dry fast a try. Since the beginning of the year I've done 3 or 4 dry fasts lasting almost 48 hours. I was so surprised that dry fasting is actually much easier than water fasting. When you start drinking the water it makes you hungry. Dry fasting was a breeze up to the 44 hour mark, more or less. Then I started getting light headed and thirsty and it was time to break the fast. Even though the weight loss was very rapid, it was also mostly water which came right back the next day when I started eating and drinking. Since it's been almost a year since my last long  10 day fast , I thought it was time to embark on a new way of fasting. I started 5 days ago and I've been mixi

The Challenges of Winter Fasting

I haven't posted anything for a long time as I was not very successful fasting through winter. Not sure what it was but I really struggled and usually gave up around 48 hours. What seemed effortless in summer became a real struggle in the winter. I found my friends and those in fasting groups were also experiencing the same. I wonder why this is? Logically, we had always more food in the summer and much less in winter. So you would think that fasting in winter was more natural and our bodies would be more capable of dealing with is. I'm attributing it down to lack of sunshine. I find the warm sun so nourishing and I naturally have much less of an appetite in summer. Even sticking to my OMAD (one meal a day) in winter was tough. So spring is finally here. Time for a good reset.
